LSV Setup B16B Pistons in my Ls bottom end with GSR head
I have a question and im sure someone has done this before already so I just wanted some input. I wanna run B16B pistons in my ls bottom to bump up my compression for my lsv build, I will be running as gsr head unless I can pick up a b16 head for a good price. No to my question is my B16B pistons gonna hit my valves? I could use wax and put the motor together but I just wanted to see if anyone knows this or has already done this before I waste my time putting the motor together. thanks all input will be appreciated
No, they have enough of a valve relief, they are perfect for LSV's. And go with a GSR head, don't worry about finding a B16.
I have a gsr now thats laying around so I figured Id throw something together for my dd I will be right around 13.5:1 Compression
Why do you think your compression will be that high with a GSR head and B16 pistons? Should be anywere near 11.6:1 or a little over.

you dont need all that compression to make power

If you must use the ctr pistons in your build, do not use the gsr head. The pistons like to smack the quench pads on the head.
Whoa... by just eyballing, but that combo sounds like it would net over 14:1 (81x89mm, pct pistons, ~42cc combustion chambers)... do you really think you're going to be able to "DD" that on pump gas?
Even a b16 head would only drop that maybe half a point.

ive been doing a lot of research on lsv lately and the pct's seem to be too much for that setup. according to the zeal calculator you will be in the 12's with p30/pr3 which is more than enough.
i might regret saying this but it seems that going much over 12:1 on pump gas is going to result in more pulled timing than extra power made especially if only using type r cams.
for 185 bucks i dont think you can go wrong with the rs machine pr3's. they even come with rings

yea thats gonna be real tight and high CR.. is your block and/or head already or going to be decked/milled? that will also raise the total cr a bit as well..
00-01 and CTR cams are the same, https://honda-tech.com/forums/tech-misc-15/b-series-cam-spec-list-specs-all-%401mm-388612/
I am currently running this
Head
-b16
-stock valve train
-ITR cams
-golden eagle head studs
Block
-B18a1
-PCT pistons
-eagle rods
-ARP bearings (rod an main)
I am currently running it as my daily and runs healthy in my EF 4 door. I'm lo being the all motor. Apparently it is not over 13 cr but idk still loving it
