I ordered some NPR pistons for my y8 and there arent circlips? I was thinking they were press fit, but the wrist pins slide in and out with ease. Im stumped

 

I got some new pistons as well.. no spiro locks or circlips or whatever you wanna call um.. emailed um and they said they were press fit as well.. but like you, the pins go in with ease..

Maybe pressed through the rod?

I know right.. I suppose we got 3 options..
Get the pistons machined for the locks
Buy new pistons
Or buy new rods lol

 

They are just press fit to the rod I believe

 

Shoot, you need special rods? Fack i was just dreading the drive to the shop to get them pressed. I suppose i can just throw some stock y8s back in lol

 

No I believe they press onto the stock rod just like OEM

 

You can try freezing the wrist pins and torching the rod end. There are some videos on youtube showing how to do this.

You never mentioned if the wristpin was sliding throughout the pistons too easily or the rods. Theyre suppose to go easily through the piston, but it HAS to be pressed into the rod cause that's where it sticks, NOT the pistons. Hope that helps cause I think there may be a misunderstanding here.
