B18 small mods or just leave it alone?
I have a JDM B18C in a 2000 Knightsbridge Mini. I have no intention of going all out on performance with it, not because of money but because I don't think I/it can usefully take more HP.
Please don't think I have a bottomless pit of money and skill. God knows I certainly don't. It just seems to make less and less sense, creates more and more power and becomes more fragile and temperamental engine.
But as many of us here do, we change things, sometimes just to change things.
I want to put an MFactory oil filter relocation, oil cooler and a Canton oil thermostat on it. Since I have no power brakes, it looks like I have plenty room around where the servo used be for the filter and thermostat. I'm still a bit stumped on where to mount the cooler. Then of course, I have to match an Autometer oil temp gauge.
It would also be nice to add a Moroso oil pan but the info goes back and forth on that...
I would also like to change to a Mezeire electric water pump. Again, I've heard somethings good and bad.
The one thing that I'm going to change that does makes some real sense and add genuine benefit is to change some of the transmission gear ratios.
I have a 3.47 FD with 215/50-13 Toyo Proxes. It has been recommended that I change to a MFactory 3.070 1st gear and then use the Acura Integra GS-R. 1.900 for 2nd. Then leave 3rd,4th and 5th at the stock 1.458', 1.034 0.787 . AT least I believe that's where I'm at with that. I'll check 7 ways from Sunday before I do it.
Thanks for reading my ramblings.
