[B16-B18] How to install a OIL Temp on the engine ?
Hi,
I have my oil temp and oil pressure on an OIL FILTER ADAPTER
It works well but I'm going to add an oil radiator and I need to remove the OIL FILTER ADAPTER because I don't want to put the two adapter.
I've founded a way to put the OIL Pressure near the filter (picture is not mine) like this
But where to put the OIL Temp ? I don't want to put it on the oil pan because it's not right. I know some people managed to put it on the engine but where and how (with an adapter ?)
For example here :
With something like that http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-SPECIFI...ayphotohosting
If somebody can help me.
Thank you.

Why wouldn't it be right to put it in the oil pan? That's where the majority of your oil sits, wouldn't you want your base temp. taken there?
My oil pressure sensor is t-d off from my oil feed line to my turbo.

Because the temp in the oil pan is not the right temp, it's colder, the oil pan is directly in contact with cold air, that's why I want an adapter where I show like the subaru one

just put it in one of the 1/8 npt ports that come with your set up. or if it doesnt have one on the oil cooler setup you bought, just make a T off the oil pressure sensor in such a way you would with a turbo setup for the oil line.

you can put it in where you have marked on the picture with the red arrow but you have to adapt it down to the size you need for the temp sensor

There is no 1/8 npt ports in the setup I ordered, not possible with a themostatic plate.
The problem is that I already put a T at the stock oil sensor for my oil pressure sensor
This : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ACCORD-CIVIC-C...kparms=65%3A12
I don't know where to find a T with 3 place for oil sensor like in the picture I show to put oil pressure, stock oil temp and my oil temp http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/8...ressionno3.jpg

i know it may sound kind of jery riggish but T it twice that will give you an extra port or like i said put the sensor on the port on the head.

I thought the reason the oil temp goes in the pan was to make sure the oil is hot enough the boil the water out of it.

the oil pan route is kinda time consuming to do it right. you would have to take it off drill a hole, weld a bung on it then reinstall it. the oil going to the pressure sensor is coming right from the oil pump so its pretty much the same temp

After you shut your engine off, it cools. As the block cools moisture is pulled out of the air and collects on the oil. I would say just about every car has some water in the oil.
But that's a different topic.

it cant be that much because if you have water in your oil you would have gray oil. but like you said thats another topic

I would not put more than one T on the back of the block, they have been known to break off with just one. I would run a hose from the block to a mounted t on the firewall. here is a little more info on them breaking http://www.theoldone.com/articles/oilpressure/
