Default 96 civic cx - battery drain after replacing ignition switch

Okay....new here so bare with me...two months ago i changed my ignition switch including harness because someone tried to steal it...went from a 96 to a 2000 ignition switch and harness..i also changed the climate control bezel. After changing everything, when i would leave the car over night, the battery would be drained in the morning...switch the battery several times and it keeps on happening..PLZ Help.the car a 1996 honda civic cx hatchback.

You have a parasitic drain happening somewhere. Did you do any custom wiring?

No, no custom wiring....the wiring harness would not have anything to do with it? from a 96 to a 2000?

It almost sure does, or wire damage caused by the attempted theft.

Was your original wire harness identical in every way to the replacement?

Read the link I posted to learn how to pinpoint the source of your drain.

not sure. just bought it and took it to my family friend mechanic.. he switched it for me... but before the changes, i ran the car with the original ignition switch and the battery didnt drain.. but i also kept the bezel the way the thieves left it..no drain!
