just like the title says have recent mini me build and im wondering if i can get away with running it on 89 octane pump gas.
a6(overbored) with a y8 head according to zealworks that puts me at 10.55 to 1 c/r. Pretty much in DFW my choices are 87 89 and 93 octane.

I'd personally get it tuned on 93. Take advantage of that and extract as much as you can from it. Why build it if you're not going to extract it's full potential?

 

Pretty much what i was thinking, but this motor will be daily driven and i was hoping to avoid running premium if it was feasible. I guess what im wondering is how much power will i lose having it tuned to 89 instead of 93. thanks

 

i daily drive on premium gas. all i run is premium. i hit red line alot tho, and don't want to risk detonation... mines an a6/z6 mini me

 

93 octane. The price difference between that and 87/89 is minimal.

 

It can easily be tuned on 87... If you don't want to tune then try 89; if it knocks run 93. Heck, you can tune 12:1 on 87 if you set everything up right...
