B.A.R. = Bureau of Automotive Repair

They need to certify that the engine being swapped is legal (this may vary from state to state).

BAR'd = People incorrectly using an acronym as a verb

Basically just means that the engine has been certified by the B.A.R. at which point the car would receive a B.A.R. label stating exactly that.


"Red Army" and "KINGVEM^^ED6" got it right on point to the best of my knowledge which is why you really need to talk to YOUR local referee.

you can bar jdm motors you just have to use the usdm ecu i just passed the ref and i have a jdm ITR swap in my 00 integra LS and just told the ref i replaced my gsr bc i whent out so he just did a smog test and passed it ive bard jdm b16 and gsr's in eg all day and i do that for costomers at my friends shop.
if your ek is a 99-00 then all you have to do is put all the SI parts and ecu and youll pass
