Default Precision turbo's??

Hey I was thinking about building a turbo kit for my car and I'm not quite as up to date on turbo's as I used to be. I've heard good things about Precision turbo's but wanted to get some other peoples opinions about them. Also, what's the ports in the precision turbo's?? I guess I should say, what is the function of them. I'll attach a pic so you can see what I'm asking. Thanks!

When I got my turbo kit from full race and asked about a 6262 they told me they don't sell them anymore too may problems. I ended up with a gt35r. This kinda makes me wonder if it was somewhat true? I would really like to hear shodans thoughts.

I have been told alot not to run presision because of the issues whats told in that link i posted. I have been told by people with the PTE precision turbos they cant make it over 2,000 miles start smoking and stuff. Like I said before I'm running a 6265 on my civic for about 5-6,000 miles now. Never seen a drop of smoke or nothing. I change my oil every 1,000 miles tho. The Guy that helps me told me it has alot to do with the way there installed and the size oil feed. He told me to never run nothing but a -3 on there turbos. But I also would like to see what shodans thinks..

Well... I guess I fall in that category that got some bad 6262's then. I bought mine brand new, ran it for around 3000 miles or less and the turbo seals blew out. Good thing it still was under warranty and Precision only charged me for labor to fix. I know it can happen to any turbo, but previously I was running a used turbonetics t3/t4 and never had any problems with that one at all. My motor blew first and the turbo was still good :/.. So i do wonder if alot people did have some problems with the 6262 turbos.

From what i have heard is that with Precision turbos on Hondas, oil pressure is to high so a .065 restrictor is needed for Journal Bearings. Other than that I havent heard any negative comment on them. I just purchased a 5857, were going to try it out this next spring and hope for a couple ponies!

This is what I am doing, 5857 running the ATP .065 restrictor. Everyone that has done this that I know of has not had any issues.

I think they make nice paper weights or ashtrays. Borg Warner ftw!

precision is a good choice along with garret or turbonectics, as long as the turbocharger you are purchasing is/will work good with whatever setup you have.

and of course there will always be mixed reviews. some people may have a precision turbo fail in 2k miles due to a kinked feed line, but blame it on the manufacturer themselves for their own stupidty.

as for the housings that have the "holes" these are called anti surge ports. they allow some of the pressure to escape when the throttle snaps closed that the bov doesnt, or has trouble venting.this allows the pressure to come back out without causing the turbine to suddenly stop, and or spin backwards which WILL cause premature turbo failure.

in 8 years of being a precision distributor, we have had to send back 2 turbochargers for repairs. both were covered under warranty and were back in our hands with in 2-3 days. i am perfectly happy with that!

back in the day we did a fairly large "buy in" with innovative turbo...we had problems with every one of their turbos, and after the initial order we placed, we never placed another order.

bullseye power and borg warner have always treated us well.

garrett has always worked well for us, generally when we use garrett turbo's its 28r's, 30r's, 35r's, a few 40r's, and a bunch of 42r's. only time we really seem to use their journal bearing stuff is when its included in a kit.

have not used a turbonetics in years

still have not used a comp turbo...

we use precision on probably 95% of our projects

They're great turbos, just need to make sure you have a restrictor that's all. I think it's been pretty well documented at this point that pretty much every single one of their turbos in their lineup are very efficient and make really good power for their respective sizes.

Full race is a borg warner warner dealer im sure they dont want you to buy a precision... I only sell precision turbos simply based on my personal experience i think they are the best thing since sliced bread... Borg warners are a great turbo though tough as nails if you ask me i used one and spit like three motors through it and it was still perfect.
