Default D16 turbo for 300whp

Im building dohc zc with forged internals etc and looking for 300whp turbo, power range 4-8k rpm for autocross/track use. I would like to have T3 flange and about $700 for turbo, used is okay with low mileage and good shape. I was thinking this http://www.precisionturbo.net/turboc...er---4854B/472

But how is PTE quality at these days? T2 flange is also possible but i would prefer T3 maybe .48 ar?

18G or gt28, quick spool and easily hit 300.

18g would be a bit laggy for auto crossing on a d16. and you wont easily hit 300 with it

I have read lots of issues on the precision units. You get the good with the bad though.

I'd go a PTE, price is not over the top - seen heaps of good results with them. 5431 with the smaller rear housing shouldn't be to bad. Or go a TD05 16g big

Get a T3/T4 50 trim, they spool well on D16's from what I've read

Dohc pressures are good when engine is in specs. I have done few of them before. pte sc50, t28, and hy35, now going with z6 but building engine / setup for friend. Where to get good garret t3/4 50trim, maybe with .48 exhaust housing?

had a garrett t28 (slightly bigger than a gt28 and it was journal bearing) it was very quick to spool and loved it.....

do you regularly autox....ive attended some never raced but these mods would put you in the hardest class.... 300 is quite a bit of power....i had a 180-200 stock d15b7 with a gt17 that was one of my favorite set-ups, turbo spooled instantly and held till redline just fine, it was good for mid 13's at the drag strip power came on so quick it was great

You will probably find yourself turning it down at autocrosses because you'll be spinning everywhere

I have an EVO8 super16g turbo for cheap if you want to go that route... twin scroll. Only issue you would have is getting properly flanged manifold for it. But it spools quick as **** and would be able to get you close to 400whp if you wanted to push it.
