possibly it can start to chip off bit by bit or start a crack line
You can possibly debur the edge of that chip to stop it from cracking or chipping again.

I would replace the cam ASAP, here's why. The cam lobes are all heat treated for durability. From what I can interpret, that deformity has damaged the heat treated surface (think of a shell on an egg hard as hell but once it cracks?) the under lying material cannot handle the forces placed upon it and now that is exposed. IMO this is going to continue to degrade and eventually cause some major damage. What does the follower (rocker) look like? I'd bet it's damaged too.

You may be lucky I sincerely hope so however for me personally the risk/reward of running the cam like this wold be too much. As far as the new cams go, you can find them but you're going to pay though the nose for them. Best of luck!

Run the cam man it will be fine . Ive seen alot worse then that run . I prefer my stuff to be perfect and i wouldnt sell anything like that but honestly its not going to hurt a damn thing . I bet the rocker doesnt even touch that part of the cam lobe . I doubt its from anything you done like other cams ive seen damaged . Thats probably just a bad casting flaw . I also dont beleive that will start tpo crack or it would have when it chipped off. Im sure nobody wants to get on the computer and say hey man run a cam that has chipped it will be fine but i tell you what run them then post up the results every month . I bet the cams out live the motor . Ill tell you what pull them out and sell them to me for 50 bucks im sure i can find plenty of people that would like to have them.
