Default since ill be replacing my axle seals......i was wondering

i wanted to fix, or find out why.......or maybe if its normal that im having trouble getting in to 2nd gear from 1st, it kinda has trouble getting into 1st from a stand point, i kind of have to play with it for it to slide right in...but when i rev to about 4000rpm i kinda have to force it in to 2nd gear it annoys me by the time i get it in to 2nd gear my rpms have dropped and back to going slow...i might as well start off in 2nd gear....

i dont grind my gears or anything, i learned how to drive stick in this car, brand new clutch, i know for a fact that ive done some wear and tear so im ready for what im about to face. i still from time to time ride my clutch not on purpose but because im still new to this and im not trying to stall in traffic....

what could it be?

btw this is a 1990 acura integra ls / stock b18 ls tranny 5speed... no grinds...no pops..

Since you say you need to replace the seals, have you been driving around with low fluid?

shift linkage or synchros are the most common reason for this. if you still have the oem bushings that could be part of it. just slop in the shifter. second would be synchros.

for awile when i first got the car back from my mechanic when he auto to manual swapped my car i was leaking alot of tranny fluid due to the fact that driver side axle wasnt the right size. i also didnt know how to drive stick , i hope i didnt damage anything while stalling a few times, i never grind my gears , the only thing i can say i probably worn about 30 percent of my clutch im still mastering my 1st gear, also i noticed its a little hard to get in to reverse

so i heard if you have little or no fluid in your tranny, you would be grinding your gears and wont go? ive recently checked my fluid and im good and added a little of tranny lucas to maybe help the smooth shifting but no help.

no shift linkage is shift linkage and the clutch cable is the clutch cable. if you've messed with the cable and don't understand how to set it that could be one problem since it may have reduced travel in the clutch.

imo find a local mechanic. if you don't know what shift linkage is i really doubt you possess the skill to troubleshoot this. i skilled mechanic would be able to determine your problem within minutes

i didnt mess with it my self, my friend did, and he is a skilled mechanic, he maybe thought that the clutch cable needed a little adjusting so that it would go in and out of gear easier, and hes the one who will be replaceing my axle seals so i wanted maybe a second opinoin from anyone on here whos been threw this or knows my issue,,,
