Ok, so i was driving my sisters accord 1998 coupe, to the airport. was fine driving it there. After i got on plane she drove couple miles and noticed a popping sound. stopped pulled over checked fluids. She noticed oil was not reading on dipstick, so put in a quart and read. after starting up was overfilled. and car would smelled like burning oil. just wondering what could cause this.I had a similar thing happen with my 96H22, just dumped all its oil one day. replaced oil pan and gasket, to valve cover and pan, also replaced V-tec oil pressure switch. and then it held it perfect. If anyone has any ideas on what could have caused this please let me know.

 

It's obviously not possible to go from not registering to overfilled after only one quart. So there's more to this story.

 

You are not going to get an accurate reading on the engine oil right after you turn the engine off.

Exactly, all the oil was probably there.

 

yeah, turns out it was AC that caused the prob, oil was only not showing because i was driving for 2 hours and didnt register like it should, drained the quart back out because it was full.
