Default Need Help, bad tranny on Civic HX auto, what can I replace it with???

I got a 96 HX w/CVT transmission. I tranny is not switching out of first instead just revs real high. Do I need to replace the tranny?? If yes, then if I through a EX tranny will I have to get an EX ECU?? Need help fast.

first off i would get your tranny fluids changed, they also make this tranny fluid that is supose to help with a gear shifting problem just as yours. as far as trading tranny's if you stick with a auto then your ecu will be fine, i would consiter upgrading to a ex ecu if you find on laying around ( better power gain) but your hx's will be just fine

You're pretty fucked.

The CVT trannies are all going to **** and there's nothing you can do really other than swap in a 5-speed tranny with the pedals, clutch hydrolics, etc.

The CVT trannies are rare to find used, and even if you find one they'll probably **** out soon too.

My cousin has had THREE of those damn CVT trannies in her car with only 91K on it!

Manual swap is calling your name!

Just pull them out. Go buy the 5 speed transmission and pedal assembly and we will help you out the rest of the way. And buy a helms manual too.
