Icon2 95 Civic EX Motor Swap

I hava a stock motor still and was wondering which would be better to put into my civic. I am torn between the B16A and the B18C, which would be better cost and labor wise. I wish I could do the work but I don't have the tools or shop to do this. I found a guy who wants to do it for me but still want some opinions? The car is already dropped 3" if that will play a part in motor selection.

B16 is gutless. And not very fast.

^^That. If you have to go b series, I suggest a B18c1 or B18c5 if you can afford it. Otherwise, raise ur suspension up a little and go H22.

I ewill see about a b18c but I dont want to touch my suspension it handles great right now but i know that can change with a different motor.

With the B18C swap how much engine bay work will need to be done? If anyone knows it would be much appreciated.

Did you not ask the guy that's going to do the swap? Check the FAQs at the top of the page and read up on what goes into swapping one of these engines.

I think not. if you have a d motor you will need new mounts. the gsr has the 3 bolt mount on the right and a different trans mount on the left. also the back gsr mount is longer than the one you need because it belongs in a teg.
Booom!! just did this swap a 2 months ago

lol hes talking about a 95 CIVIC not a 96-00 civic a gsr motor will drop right into a 92-95 civic the only difference is the rear t bracket , if hes buying the swap the swap will come with all the mounts and will drop right in its basically plug and play

if you can afford the B18C1 get that one, it's a way better platform to start out with. A B16A feels like a sohc until you open vtec, and even then its not very impressive.

^^
This

IDK why kids are brainwashed thinking the B16 is the best engine out there. The best part is, they swap out a 1.6 vtec for another 1.6l vtec.

The best "bang for the buck" would be a B18C1 as well as a GSR tranny. If you can spend a lil more get a JDM tranny with LSD, If you want to get the best possible B series setup get a JDM b18c 98 spec with the LSD tranny.

Unless you can get an amazing cheap deal on a B16 id avoid it. The B18C1 C5 and C are top choice.

Thanks guys a lot of good ideas but looks like everything is pointing to me finding a B18C and LSD trans for a nice price. Where can you find good deals... Junkyard if so I will build the motor how I want. Suggestions for internals next!

Be careful with Junkyard motors. It's hit/miss.

Well I want to find one around $1200 and as far as the jukyard goes as long as the head is ok I hope its fine. Like I said I want to rebuild the internals before I even do the swap so I know everything inside will last.
