Default Changing my CAT

how hard is it to do? Do i have to change any gaskets? I see two bolts with springs. If i take em off, will it be a bitch to put back on?

need help. Any digrams and lits of tools would be greatly appreciated

not hard, no gaskets, all youll need is two wrenches to take off the spring bolts, no

The spring is not hard to compress. You can do it by hand or use a c clamp. It is very easy.

very easy to do...i would be more worried of there is rustcuz thats usually more of a problem then the spring...the spring just compress with your hard and put the bolt on the other and then just tighten with the wrenches...very easy project\

It will probably take an hour for your car to cool down enough. those pipes get VERY hot and they will burn you in a sec. If the bolts are rusted spray them with WD-40 and let them soak for a little while.

true dat, the last cat i replaced we had to torch the bolts off.

Ahh! Milwalkee "Sawzall" does wonders for removing garbage exhaust/bolts ect.

my emissions are horrible that why im changing.. ifi get a high flow cat do u think i can still pass aircare?

Yup - the highflow cats (catco at least) convert the hydrocarbons to Co2 just as efficiently as the stock cats...

I have a sugestion for you instead of a high flow cat just get a reg. cat pass deq then bore your old one out and put it back on... More Flow

what can i use to bore it out? i have 2 used ones that i got for free.
i used an 18 inch long masonary bit.. ten times faster than beating it out with a length of pipe.

i changed mine.. it wasnt too hard.. just needed a hand holding it up! thanks guys!

i have one where the bolts are welded... if one side can unscrew off then thats fine!

Mine had TWO gaskets...front & rear...91 civ w/b16...

What's the deal here?!? Do i not need those? Anybody know?
