95 lx - p.o. cut wire to o2 sensor, and disabled CEL
so im under my car this weekend and all 4 wires coming from the oxygen sensor are cut about 1 inch from exhaust mani heat shield. also i've never had a CEL in the 6 months ive had the car... thinking its disabled
where would you begin?

One more time. Check that the CEL actually works. You say it is disabled in the title of your thread. If it is then that would explain WHY you have never seen a CEL. I don't see how you can run with an O2 sensor in this condition and NOT trip a code. Just because there is no working CEL doesn't mean it isn't happening. You also might want to look around the engine bay for a connector with no plug.

there's a square plug on your main harness that the o2 sensor plugs into....i know i have to extend mine since i LS swapped my car i don't have mine o2 connected because it's too short...although if the pigtails from the o2 sensor are made too long, it wont work
next question... how does not having o2 sensor hooked up effect my car?
To check to see if CEL works turn key to position 2 and see if it comes on for a few seconds and then off.
As for the harness hopefully the female plug was not cut as well.
The O2 sensor is very important in terms of how the car runs, ie. rich or lean depending on what it reads from the manifold. Plus it helps with general running of the car and gas mileage.

motegicivic - no CEL ever, including key position 2. i get oil, seatbelt, brake, airbag, fuel thats it. that why i think it was purposely disabled.
kyden - not sure, that is the lower of 2 similar looking plugs on the exhaust manifold. the top one is still wired

i've been thinking about it, makes sense to me now. you have an ek exhaust manifold/cat on there, so that o2 sensor is for the secondary.
i personally would have just went to the parts store and bought a plug for the hole, but i guess the person didn't want to, lol.

if your o2 sensor is unplugged, more than likely your car will run rich and you'll be wasting fuel...your mpg be noticeably smaller (my mpg went down to 28mph on the highway when my o2 sensor screwed up, it was 30+)
...but i digress. the female end of the o2 sensor harness is in good shape. im going to try to source an o2 sensor with the cable still attached to it. maybe a junk yard piece if im lucky. i want those 30+ mpg numbers
well i checked my mpg on the last tank and thats about(28 mpg) what i was getting. pretty good compared to the 15-18 i was getting with my old truck ha
