so i just bought the car. it's a 5g civic. it has the stated problem. every oother thread i read is saying it works and then it doesn't but mines is just dead. it's got this cluster except mine is the auto one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/EG9-jdm-Sir-...#ht_695wt_1270

tested the plug. the power and ground both work at the plug. i don't have a voltometer to check the signal wire voltage. also i ran a wire from the signal wire to b10 which is the vss wire. still had the check engine light come on.

one weird thing is when it's driving down the road the cel comes on in the same exact spot every time.

anybody have any pointers? i was going to buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VEHICLE-SPEE...ht_7079wt_1270. it's only 4 bucks.

 

Get a multimeter and test for voltage pulses between ECU A26 and B10 as you spin the front wheel.

What's the bEst Way to make contact w/ the wires at the ecu?

 

Back probe the ECU connectors.
