Bitch Pin Removal Made Easy
So I heard about this dreaded job and tried to rationalize an easier solution than BFH.
During this I had my intake manifold off. Which may make a difference, someone may have to verify for me.
Tools:
Tx20 long bit
bit holder
1/4 socket
Lots of extensions
Hammer
1)Put the car in reverse it moves the bitch pin closer to the tranny.
2)Remove c-pin and push rubber boot aside.
3) from above use your long Tx20 bit with all the sockets/extensions to make about a 2 foot bar with the bit in the bitch pin.
4) Took about 4 hammer swings with a 3lb and it was out.
5) Open beer.
6)Rejoice for keeping sanity.
Hope this helps someone. For newbies, like myself, the "bitch pin" is close to the back of the tranny/differential on the end of the shift linkage.
Feel free to add/criticize/debate

You guys must not be used to vehicles so rusted you can wave at each other through the quarter panels and floor boards... I can assure you - on some of them even with the proper tools, a torch, penetrating oil (Kroil), and a lot of endurance it can take a lot of hits to get it out. Some wind up having to be drilled out. We have made a miniature press just for this job - and sometimes they are just that seized in there. Unfortunately they use salt on the roads like they do at McDonald's on their fries... Even cars that are only 4-5 years old are rusting (sometimes newer).
Also, if you are going to give instructions - why not steer them the right way rather than some ghetto tools? When somebody is using a Torx bit and hammering on it and a piece breaks off and goes in their eye, don't come to me asking for protection. They make tools SPECIFICLY for punching out roll pins. It's called a Roll Pin Punch (I know, imagine that). Also, taking off the intake manifold for this job is asinine...
Tools needed:
- Jack and stands
- Hammer (preferably 3lb)
- Roll Pin Punches
- Possible Pliers (to remove sprig clip if you have girly hands)
- Penetrating oil/ or Torch - you can see how it goes
- OR Press - to avoid beating on your gear selector (you can fashion something with a C-clamp and some sockets and such)
1.) Jack up vehicle and support it with jack stands.
2.) Bring the shift linkage closest to the transmission.
3.) Push boot out of the way so it won't get damaged (zip-ties help).
4.) Remove the spring clip from the linkage that covers the pin.
5.) Use penetrating oil or heat as needed.
6.) Grab the appropiate sized roll punch and hammer it out; or better yet use a press to push it out.
The installation is the reverse of removal. You should always use a new roll pin. It never hurts to anti-seize it in case you have to remove it in the future.

(Unless you were not referring to me? Then me love you long time.)
Thanks for the other posts guys. I appreciate the multiple different ways to do this, including the PROPER way to do it.
But lets face it, not everyone always has the right tool for the job.
Personally I just bought a whole motor swap to put in my 89 si and starting run low on funds with all the maintenance parts and things I've had to buy. I've also only had a garage for less than 6 months so my tool library is lacking to say the least. The intake manifold was already off for other reasons. Just happened to work that way. Instead of taking the time to run to the store and buy new stuff(however the mentioned needed tools are now on my "to buy list") I found a way to make it work and thought I would let people know. I wanted a thread that would be easily "googled" so people could figure out a way that worked best for them.

Sadly, I cannot take credit for such a masterpiece.

The C-clamp is very hard to keep straight, even with the tranny out. My friend pounded it out for me somehow.
The only other time I hammered one out it took me half a day underneath the car.

I have sold dozens of these:
