what make up is each intercooler? Bar & plate (Garrett, Precision, Spearco, Mishimoto [lower grade]) or tube and fin? (Godspeed, CX Racing, Greddy, or E-bay)

Size alone can't answer this question without knowing more.. Got a picture or two as to what you're considering?

Thanks Shodan, in a moment I upload the pictures to see what you think. Both intercooler are from ebay, not much money for an excellent quality!

4" wide for sure. As long as they are the same type

Not if its killing his flow to the radiator it isn't, even if it allows for a over a 1psi pressure drop. If he has additional cooling options with his fans to compensate for the lack of airflow to the radiator, and uses a 4" Tube & delta fin design like he has, then he may be fine, but otherwise, he may experience cooling problems.. And that's not very efficient, is it?

For a tube/fin like that, I'd go taller before I'd go thicker.

I'd really hope he'd have efficient cooling if he plans to run 600hp

It may be initially... but not if you block airflow to the important places.

i have a 31x12x3 bar and plate. i made 532hp on it. by that time my air temps were getting high. im also on 2 1/2" ic pipe. im going with the pricision 650 or 750 not sure and upgrading to 3" ic pipe.. so if i were you i would aleast go to something 4" wide, and also 3" pipe.

Doesnt specifically need to be bigger in size but the core be efficient. I had a Precision 600 and didnt hold even 500. Got a Vibrant 31 x 12 x3.5 and it held 600whp and didnt get hot on the cold side. That FMIC in the pic is EMUSA = garbage = Godspeed. Need to think of efficiency instead of size.

Exactly, that's why I listed the better ones first. I know not everyone is made of money and a $100 or slightly more may hurt, but for a lot of people, they only want to pay ONCE for an intercooler, so its well worth it. If you can't afford it, that's alright, if staying lower boost pressures (relatively) but don't expect the same result when you push the car to higher boost pressures

REAL Garrett Cores

Spearco

Bullsh!t Cores -Fins aren't properly louvered. Not bad, but will hurt power when pushing it.
Godspeed

EMUSA -Copied the Apex'i "Delta" Fin design.. and did poorly in doing so.

guys, thank you very much everyone for your opinions. Think you're right, I'll wait a bit more to have the money and buy a really efficient intercooler. Maybe a Precision or a garret core and make it here! But if I buy the garret core, which would be the ideal measure for an intercooler for 600hp?
Thanks to all
