Default Turbos for b18

Any one any suggestions on a turbo for a gsr. Looking for 7-9 pounds out of the turbo (daily driver) and a mid level pricing. Thanks for any opinions.

Don't know where you're getting this 7-9PSI stuff from but the FAQs are up there to give you some knowledge. You should read them.

I'm a GT3255b Journal Bearing myself. I'll pm you a picture if you'd like. I didn't want to take away from the OP's thread.

M24 is a housing part number, not a turbocharger. They are stamped on about 20 different housings.

And just NO to GT25 ball-bearing. those are under 30lbs/min, you can't do anything about those, especially if you think you have one from some DSM.

Here is a picture of the GT3255b journal bearing. (This one was specially coated)

Still.. NO. that's not going to cut it for your application. Not even close. And please don't give the argument that a friend with a 240 (be it SR20DET or KA24DE) made that power, because he didn't. The cylinder head designs are completely different from one another in which (believe it or not) your cylinder head ALONE could outflow that small of a turbocharger.

You just went backwards. don't deal with XS POwer, SS AUtochrome, or Godspeed..

If it doesn't say Garrett/Precision/Turbonetics/Borg-Warner/STC/Holset/ or HKS turbos, stay the hell away from it.

Start looking on setups that have the quality builds and go from there. Stop just asking about generic turbos that have no relationship with one another. I won't give comments on every little junkyard or "Deal" turbo that you find. That's not how the FI section works. Do some investigation of your own. check the FAQs.

Know the following information

Budget for a turbo
Power goals
Use for the car
What do you want to do eventually? (no E.Ts please)
what setups have you seen that are similar to what you want?
Have you driven a turbo honda before? (If so, what power? what motor was in it?)

Very nice, smooth power curve and really starts to come alive at about 4000rpms. This would be a very good turbo for my goals. So Garret makes the GT3255b correct? Funny most of these are a big larger turbos than I figured would be good for 250-300whp. I thought that DSM turbos where decent for a B series Vtec motor. If I got this right you said the Vtec heads out flow those smaller turbos correct?

A DSM turbo can barely work with a DSM much less a VTEC Honda Cylinder head. Get that out of your mind now.

Sorry to thread jack again one last quick question. This is the mani I will be using (not the waste gate)

I know its not the best, I will port it out to make it flow a bit better. This is just for my lower budget build. Once I build a block a completely different turbo set up will go on it. Question is will the GT3255b have any fitment issues? Keeping AC and PS for now.

That depends upon who fabricates the downpipe.. But for the most part, the GT3255b keeps you from grinding the block down, because it is an B cover and not an E, where most have to be ground down a little bit.

Though I would NOT use that manifold because of the poor wastagate placement. (and looks like a sh!tty wastegate)

If you have a waste gate on only one runner you experience boost creep.
