Default VTEC and REV limiter quick Q's

I have a b18c being installed as we speak, I should be getting my p28 chipped and tuned for b18c monday.. 3 Q's

1. I have short gears and civic's have no traction so where ( from personal exp ) do you guys think is safe for rev limiter to be set.. I think factory varies with c1 and c5 in the 8.5k area....

2. From personal exp. where do you guys feel the B18c's should engage Vtec at for most benifit...

3. I am running s80 gsr trans with the b18c and want to know best rpm from your exp for launch ( 2step ) I have seen way to low rpm launches which suck and too high ... might as well not even have it ...

these might be repeated q's but as time goes on so does people's opinion and exp with these stats so all help and opinions are welcome ... thx guys

with the motor being stock a I/H/E isnt much of a power gain and without cams your rev limiter should stay stock. you will not gain any more power reving it out higher with no mods like cams to support it.

If anything vtec should stay the same as well if at all maybe just a few hundred rpms earlier then stock. lowering vtec engagement could hurt performance more then help. without mods to help power down low vtec is not going to help either..

why not launch your car at various rpms and see how the car reacts and determine where you would like to launch at. if your running slicks it's gonna be different then running street tires. All cars are different. i wouldn't advise launching any higher then 3-3.5k rpms on street tires without burning your tires off the line with no traction.

By tuned do you mean dyno tuned or just a base map for a gsr....if it's a dyno tune have your tuner change vtec crossover point or at least play with it to see where you can still make more power in vtec

Get traction bars but its not like youre going to be needing them because you will not have enough horsepower to even loose traction

Don't touch vtec its at that RPM for a reason...

get a LSD Type-R Tranny or B16 tranny with LSD

Why would you "rather" vtec "crack" at a certain RPM?

People make Vtec out to be a lot more than it really is. Making vtec happen earlier is not always better. Why don't we just turn vtec on all the time? That makes about as much sense.

Let an experienced tuner do the ECU mapping, not the seat of your pants.

will be a base map tune for now ... I will be getting it dyno tuned once i get her boosted after christmas (kids have me broke till then ) Vtec can make power or lose power at certain rpm's thats why I was asking for personal exp. no dyno for now...thx for the replies guys... will be getting a Mfactory LSD installed as soon as I can find someone to install it without breaking the bank
