Default harness in my ek

this is a stupid question but im in a tight bind and have emmissions coming up soon! i have a 2000 civic hatchback dx and im running a 98 civic motor and trans in it and ecu! my cel and speedo dont work and ive been looking into it more and asking some of the local guys around here about it! apperantly i have an obd2b car and running and obd2a harness and ecu! my buddy gave me a 2000 automatic vtec harness will that work on my non vtec motor? if so what all would i have to do or if anything at all! i have a y8 manifold that i want to put it on and i know the iac plugs are different! i plan on putting a b-series vtec swap in the car but i just want it to go through emmissions first! your input and help is greatly appreciated! thanks for ur time and input!

If your going to keep it manual and want to pass emissions I highly suggest you get rid of the a/t electrical connectors on the harness otherwise the smog tech may ask why they are left unplugged and fail you for a tampered harness

messaged you via facebook with more info:

i just re read your post. and you will need to do some mods to your distributor wiring if you want your car to be like a full 99-00 civic. on these years the distributor on obd2b cars was a single rectangular plug with 8 wires, where as right now your should have a squared plug with 9 wires.
i dont think smog techs will care to much about it. but some might, depending how **** they are. so you will need to modify the obd2b harness from an EX down to a DX. you will need to do the following:

1. add in the 3rd wire for the IACV
2. i might be mistaken, but i believe 99-00 D-Series have 2 speed sensors (1 input and 1 output)
3. modify the harness for the correct IAT (EX have them on the intake pipe and i believe DX have them on the actual manifold).
