Removing A/C belt ---any ill effects to compressor?
Please excuse my ignorance on this question----
I have a winter beater at my parents house that Im loaning to a friend in need, now the vehicle (95 ex coupe) was involved in a minor minor front end crash last winter, and I had some extra parts so I just replaced the front end....hood/one fender/bumper. Nothing major happened during the crash, however one of the a/c lines was damaged--high pressure if it matters. (It was professionally capped off, system drained, etc) I noticed the a/c belt is still attached, and I was going to just remove it. Belt is fine, however its not doing anything by turning the compressor around and around.
Removing it, will it do anything bad? say will the compressor seize up? should I just leave well enough alone and let it be? or can I Remove it for the winter and Ill get around to fixing up the a/c in march/april ---then Ill just put a new belt on it?
Thanks
The car is in tip top shape, however my old man thinks there *might* be a small headgasket leak either forming, or formed. I am about 150 miles from him though, so I can't exactly speculate over the phone, either way I can't loan my buddy a car in that shape, so we're going to throw a new headgasket on it just to be sure regardless. Ive done 2 in the last month, so I should be able to do a headgasket in about an hour 15, lol. make it an hour and 13 if I can leave off the a/c belt, lmao.
