I would see if the part numbers match. That might give you an idea.

just because part numbers don't match up doesn't mean it wouldn't work. im just trying to see if it would work inside a z6 head w/ the stock z6 cam.

Not 100% but I would say yes the they would bolt in and I dont see why they would not work. The Y5 Plus the Z6 and Y8 rocker arms are different part numbers. Z6 rocker arm 14620-P08-000, Y8 rocker arm 14620-P2R-A00, Y5 rocker arm 14620-P2M-000 but the D15Z1 out of the VX has the same rockers as the Y5. The way Vtec works is the same pretty much it is the cam differences. Vtec E has 3 cam profiles one super low primary lobe that only opens 1 valve a little bit under a set RPM, a second primary that opens the other intake valve all the way and the 3rd Vtec cam lobe that is high life and opens both intake valves. All single cam i Vtec, Vtec E and V6 Vtec motors has this style of Vtec. I would say give the Vtec E roller rockers a try they should work. I would not expect much gaines from them though. The D16Y5 or D15Z1 rockers are the ones to try out.

alright thanks for the info, i'm going to see if the cam/rockers from the y5 will bolt up to the z6 head. my buddy has the cam/rockers/valvetrain from a y5 and a z6 head so he's trying to see if that will bolt into the z6 head. he's turboing it with the z6 for better flow and still wants to use the vtec-e concept.

no it doesnt, thats why im seeing if the roller rockers would fit in the z6 head..

actually what he is trying to do is keep the z6 cam, re-grind it and use the roller rockers. just seeing if it'll work

Wont work the Y7 is a non Vtec cam and the Y8 is Vtec, you would be taking out Vtec. Can can swap Y8 and Z6 cams thought but the Y5 cam will not work with the Y8 or Z6.

Perfect for a test on this having the parts laying around. Might as well try it out. I think they will work just fine, they will fit in the head for sure. The other thing I did not even think of is if the rocker arms have different geometry, this will cause the valves to open incorrectly and may hurt performance. The rocker I would be concerned with most is the super low rpm low lift rocker ( it opens the left side intake valve when viewing the motor from the front of the car). Put the head and motor together and clay the block, check valve lift and duration specs to make sure the new rockers did not throw the valve lift up at all. If all is good it should be fine and will be time to try it out. I am really interested to see how this turns out if the OP goes threw with it.

ummmm actually you can swap in a y7 cam and yes im sayin a y7 and taking out the vtec because thats one down side the non vtec dseries dont have is a good flowing head, most ppl just made a block off plate for the vtec solenoid . . do some searching.. ive found 2 threads that have done it... but i honestly think the y5/z6 would work and work out great

Why would you want to get rid of Vtec on a single cam? That would cause a lose of power in the top end.
