EK ebay fog light install with no switch.
I got a pair of ebay fogs with my headlights and wasnt sure how to wire them up with the relay, fuse and switch. Friend said he could do it while painting my bumper. Turns out he couldn't and instead of just saying he couldnt, he tried to make it work and cut up the harness and now im left with just power and ground wires coming off with no harness to go to the switch.
Basically i want to just wire them into another power supply. I tired spicing them into the corner lights so they just come on when i turn on illumination. Problem with blowing fuse even when i put in a 30 amp.
I am even ok with just having them come on with ignition and just be always on driving lights. Let me know if you have any tips or ideas where to run the wires. Thanks

Next to impossible to tell you how to wire these with Ebay fogs. They are not all created equal PLUS your "friend" hacked up all the wiring. You might want to post up some pictures. With no harness you might be screwed.
And to add DO NOT keep adding bigger fuses to prevent them from blowing. Now you have fuses rated to take more power than the wires do which introduces a fire hazard.

Be careful. I have had a few sets of ebay fogs before starting to buy legit parts in my later builds. I had one set that the harness caught fire and almost destroyed my hatch. I would take the time and order a Password JDM harness. It comes with everything you need and there are plenty of write ups on DIY install. It is so easy with a proper harness. Plug and play.
Basically if you dont know and not comfortable trying, have someone that does do it. Save the time and headache.

I don't know anything. I said it "sounds" like it would be the best solution. Myself I would not have hacked the wires NOR would I have bought a crap set of Ebay fogs. I would have gotten some OEM or something as close to it as possible and then installed it PROPERLY.
You have another option or did you just come in here to play e-thug?
Next time red the WHOLE thread.

Everyone has been there at one point. Trusting a friend that "knows what they are doing" or buying parts that are sub-par. I offered a solution. No e-thugging.
Personally I would make the guy pay for hacking up a harness and potential causing a hazard to your ride.

Uh. Not me. If I know I can't do it or cannot do it properly I take it to professionals with good reputations.
OP. He has a point. Make your friend pay for the harness you're going to have to buy to fix his mess.
Truth be told, if you weren't confident in your abilities to install it, fixing it is going to also be beyond you at this point. Get the plug and play (?) solution.

Its a 99 hatch and this was a while ago he hacked up the harness. i found it today cleaning the shop but its been clipped and sodler in wierd places looks toast. It had the OEM plug on it but that is now gone too.
I wasnt comfortable doing wiring then, but since i have done partial tuck and some other leds and stuff so now i know what im doing.
So wiring it to a constant source is a bad idea?
And i put the correct fuses back in

with an extra ten you can get a plug-n-play switch.

the only real way that any of us can help you with your wiring, is if you post pics of the hack job that your friend did on your harness. im an electrical engineering student and have plenty of experience wiring things in to my car. i have a set of depo ebay fogs with oem fog switch. if you do not decide to buy the passwordjdm harness, post some pics of the harness and lets see if i can help.
