Tonite me and my freind were riding around in is 98 itr and a couple of times vtec did not kick in. We had just gotten gas (93) from wawa. And when he started it up after filling up it cranked a couple extra times. We went out and no vtec. Went back to wawa and shut it off. Started it back up and vtec was back??? He just put in his his kenji's ecu like 2 days ago. Is there any reasons why vtec wouldnt kick in? The gas from wawa? the ecu? oil pressure low? thanks.

 

how do you know vtec wasn't kicking in?

It could of been the oil pressure but it could have been something as trival as the car was not warmed up yet.

 

Hey, this is my car he was talking about. I have the AEM intake and the secondaries were definately not kicking in. The car didnt pull at all and there was the the usual abnormally loud noise. It seems to be working fine. I got a ticket on the way home actually when I was confirmed that vtec was alright . Thanks
