Valve Adjustment?
I been starting to hear a noise from my motor. Is it i might need a Valve Adjustment? and I been waste alot more gas then i usually do more. Pretty much it its eats it up in half the time i normaly do and i still do the same amount of driving. What do you guys think it can me let me know for what you think it is.
Does the check engine light come on- the yellow light on the cluster. could just be a bad sensor for the poor mpg.
Light tapping noise: valve lash adjustment https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/valve-adjustment-1998-honda-civic-ex-2895877/
If the sound is loud: A heavy metal on metal, rod knock https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/rod-knock-bearing-2471182/
If you have a manual transmission push the clutch fork towards the slave cylinder, if the noise goes away its your throw-out bearing or clutch fork
Do a tune-up: oil change, radiator flush, tranny flush, spark plugs/wires

Valve adjustment will not really help with fuel economy. Turn on the car and open the hood and listen do you hear a ticking/tapping noise, then might want to adjust valves.
How many miles on the car?

Try cleaning your fuel injectors and checking your valve clearance won't hurt just make sure your motor is stone cold and check your oil if you treat your car good it will treat you good back
Tune up. OEM cap/rotor/wires, regular old parts store NGK plugs. Check/set ignition timing.
Fuel filter. When doing the ignition timing, insure the mechanicle timing is correct before doing so.
A valve adjustment, if it's needed, can help the car run/idle smoother, and quite it down a bit. But, keep in mind these cars usally do click/tick. Mine is loud as hell and valves have adjusted/check 3-4 times. It's just the way they are.
Also consider running some sort of fuel system cleaner/injector cleaner in it.

Worn valve tappets won't cause crazy bad mpgs. Valve clearance only loosenes over time (from wear I guess) so this actually allows less air into the engine. In fact, adjusting your valves could cause worse mpgs because they allow the valves to fully open which can make more power. This makes more likely to run at WOT...

Thanks for the replies guy! They got me think to do some of those things.. My friend say it can be my fuel pump or a spark plug that might not be giving enough spark?. Can that be it also for the low MPG?
motegicivic: it has 159k

Your having major issues if this really happend. And it's not the fuel pump.
Also, remeber these cars don't have baffles in the tank. So the fuel level guage will move up and down all the time.
Yeah I know that but when it was at my house it was above a 1/4 of a tank and i turn it on and move like 500feet and bamm **** starts dropping
poor mpg is probably a faulty sensor: iacv, map
but could also be a clogged fuel filter, running rich, timing is off, bad gas, leaking fuel injectors, actual leak in fuel hose, lack of maintenance, poor sparkplugs
