My car wont go into gear and underneAth some metAl piece came out! I m stuck and i want to see if i can fix it before i call aaa:/ i have jack and jackstand

doesn't sound good, but we'd need to know where the metal came from.. if it was from the shifter assembly it may be you can jury rig it (pop into 2nd manually) and limp home where it's easier to work on.

If it's thrown gears through the side - not much you can do where you are.

If some debris few up.. depends. Hate to run it w/o tranny fluid.

yeah i found out the problem it was the shift linkage that connect to the tranny and shifter. I was able to put it back together with a cotterpin where the bolt was missing but at the same time shifting is very loose. All the gears feel like neutral moving left and right what do I do when that happen? should i still drive the car?

 

for one sounds like you need to fix that linkage

and does your car actually go into gear when you say it feels like its in neutral ?

 

Sounds like your bushings are shot

 

just replace that cotter pin with a bolt and it wont move around so much, not sure how that bolt could have come out in the first place tho

it sounds like either the bolt at the base of the shifter or the bitch pin, im not sure how the bitch pin would just fall out so my best guess would be the bolt where the shifter attaches to the linkage. I guess only the op would know for sure tho
