RockFord HE2's
Through my work i can pick up rockford fosgate HE2 12's for ~100 a piece and a sealed box for $30 (gotta love employee discount). My question is how nice are these subs and how will they sound in my car. I would like relatively clean bass but at the same time be able to make the car shake if i want to. What do you guys think of the HE2's? Keeping in mind im not really that much of an audiophile i just wanna upgrade from the two crappy JBL 10's i have right now. I have a Acura Integra Hatchback and a JVC deck(w/ 4v preout), infinity doorspeakers(boston acoustic soon hopefully), and a 600w amp. What should i do? Currently i have a trapezoid bandpass box so in theory i could go with the he2 10's as well. thanks in advance. Think i should pick up a cap while im at it?
what type (brand)of amp are you planning to run with the he2's the amp will have a dramatic affect on youre speaker.watts is measured by the brand (at least for me) as well most of the brands are over rated and then theres the ones that are under rated so picking a brand of amp is also kritical. are you planning on putting one or a pair? or 12's. if you just want youre car too shake you will be able to with just one. but if you also want the car next to you too shake then i will go with two it all depends on how much you want to bump. and how much youre willing to spend on youre sounds. i wouldnt jump on the cap at first hook up youre system and if youre lights start to dim when youre bumping is a clear sign that you need a cap if not i wouldnt bother wasting my 100 bumps for a RF 1 farad cap.
i am assuming u work at best buy, and you can get RF caps for like $55, get one, i have two because i used to work there and they r so damn cheap, i run a RF 600.4
and 2 infinity perfect 10"s and have never had even the silghtest light dimming.
you have a honda alternator you will need a cap to not have dimming lights.
the problem with rf he2's is you can only get them in dual 4 ohm voice coil. those subs would be alot better if they were dual 8 ohm or dual 2 ohm.
If you wanna run two he2's u will need the rf bd1000.1 amp and 2 gauge wiring (special order item) and at least 1 farad cap, and the 100 amp rf circuit breaker that is sold in the install bay. He2's are not designed to run in singles, that is why they are dual 4 ohm subs. you either have to run a 2ohm load or a 8 ohm load with a single he2, niether of which you want. you could also just get two 8 ohm He's. Two he's would be louder than 1 he2 with the same wattage going into it. just becausse of the fact that there is more cone surface space and because of that u are displacing more air. I'd go 2(10"or 12") he's (model #'s 3810 &3812 ). you will need a 400w rms amp to push them though. u could use the rf 500.
