Default '99 GSR in EG6.

OK, so I have spent hours apon hours looking for a definiative answer. It seems every post contradicts the last and I know there are a million ways to do a swap. Google and I are tight in case you recommend it.

I bought a 99 gsr swap all obd2 of coarse, to go into my 94 VX. I also bought a obd1 p72 for the swap. My plans are to use the obd2 alt, dizzy, injectors, and wiring harness. People are telling me to ditch all of that and use obd1. But they can't tell me why.

My question is why can't I use what I planned on using in the first place: OBD2 motor/tranny, dizzy, alt, injectors, motor harness with my obd1 ecu and chassis harness. I already have all the parts for this setup. My car is a VX, so do I need to wire up vtec? I have a skunk2 pro IM so that eliminates wiring up IAB, I believe.

I need answers and the reason for the answer so I can understand better.

Thank you.

Mostly because they don't plug in. The dizzy can be used with an adapter harness, the alternator has a different plug, the injectors don't plug in (you can use almost any OBD1 injector for the same flow rate except the VX and CX). Electrically speaking they're the same. You can use the 99 GSR engine harness for plug and play. You'll just have to wire in the knock sensor manually.

See the second to last sentence confuses me. To me Plug and play mean just that.

Are the Obd2 dizzy, alt, and injectors wires/connectors not able to plug in at the shock tower harness. I guess I am more of a visual person so I am trying to draw a picture in my head and its not working so well.

You can. All those people who are telling to to ditch are wrong. Besides, it's the computer that makes the car OBD1 or OBD2. Since you're computer is OBD1, you will be fine, everything will work fine. The GSR harness splits at the shock towers just like your car does. So it will be 100% plug and play. You may need to run VTEC wires. But that's it.

If you use the GSR engine harness, all your OBD2 stuff (the dizzy, alt, injectors) will connect to the GSR engine harness; no adapters, no nothing. The GSR engine harness splits at the shock towers just like your car does. You plug the GSR engine harness in to the shock towers and voila! Gentleman start your engine. Well, you may need to run Knock and VTEC wires, but again, that's it. Those telling you to convert the engine to OBD1 are wrong.
