Timing Belt Tensioner D16z6
I think that I may have a problem with the one on my motor. It may be loose, bc i just noticed that my belt flaps a bit when I give it gas. Is it a possibility that its worn out or maybe just kinked? This is a new motor as my last z6 died on me so I have another, should I have to switch out. Any ideas on what could be wrong and an easy fix? As I dont want to spend 40 bucks on a whole new tensioner.
Tension Adjustment
CAUTION: Always adjust timing belt tension with the engine cold. NOTE:
- The tensioner is spring-loaded to apply proper tension to the belt automatically after making the following adjustment.
- Always rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise when viewed from the pulley side. Rotating clockwise may result in improper adjustment of the belt tension.
- Remove the cylinder head cover.
- Remove the upper cover.
- Set the No.1 piston at TDC.
- Loosen the adjusting bolt 180 degrees.
- Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise 3-teeth on the camshaft pulley to create tension on the timing belt.
- Make sure the timing belt and the camshaft pulley are engaged securely.
- Torque the adjusting bolt to 45 Nm (4.5 kg-m, 33 lb-ft).
- After adjusting, retorque the crankshaft pulley bolt to specified torque.
