Default quick ecu question/suggestions

I recently picked up a 98 hatch with a b20z2 block and ls head
Guy i got it from said it was running a chipped p28 and he said the chip is messed up and that's why it runs rough
It idles between 800 and 1500 and constantly fluctuates
And when i drive it feels unless i give it some gas it's cutting out like im barely pushing the gas pedal
Is it possible its not the ecu?
Should i get a different ecu if that's the problem?
Any help greatly appreciated!

It could be so many things. What map is on the chip? Are there any CEL's?

Then that is where you need to start. Get a ls map burned onto your chip. At this point it will be hard to determine what map is on there since you don't know which program was used.

That could would be the other option. I have seen few b20's that will run good on a Stock ls ecu.

As mentioned before, could be anything... ECU, bad chip, improper tune, wiring issue, bad iacv...

Is the motor stock?

Check tune-up parts. Pull dizzy cap and check. Maybe plugs, wires, filters, etc. Should do all that anyways before tuning.

The idle going from 800 to 1500 back and forth could definately be the IACV. My buddy's running an lsvtec in his integra and it was having the same problem, he changed it out a couple days ago and the problem is fixed.
