Default 98 b18C-R into 2000 Si questions

Hey guys, I had a couple questions for some of the folks that have done this swap before. First, I got my engine from Hmotorsonline and it is a 98 spec (98 specifically) Type R motor. I know that I will be going from OBD2A to OBD2B, using the p73 ecu and I have the jumper harness for this as well (obviously using the b16a2 engine wiring harness). Now, the question with the wiring harness is when I use the jumper harness/USDM harness and the p73 ECU do I need to bypass the CKF sensor? I know when I go to smog it next year I need to do the CKF bypass trick and use the p2t ecu to get it to pass, but is it necessary to do it now or can I wait until then? Also, would it be suggested that I use the VTEC solenoid from my b16 because its plug and play with the USDM harness or should I retain the solenoid that comes with the swap?

I already have a new flywheel, clutch, axles, water pump, timing belt and all gaskets I need for the typical swap/maintenance. Anything I am missing and anything else anyone can suggest? I can also answer any questions anyone has about performing the swap and what not. Thanks a lot, and I can't wait to get this in and running.

Should be simple, just double checking.

if the motor is JDM, it will not have a ckf sensor. so if you were to use your em1 ecu, you would need to bypass it.
i would suggest you do it now. just so you can knock it out of the way.

and for the vtec solenoid, you would need to swap it. since the em1 ecu has a vtec pressure sensor whereas jdm does not.

Yea, I was going to run the p73 until smog time. Thank you for the response and clearing that up.

You can probably swap the oil pump over from the B16 to retain the CKF sensor

Eh yea but I don't know if it is worth the hassle and after all, it is more money.

You could always run a JDM Type R ECU. I'm not sure how the smog station does it in your area, but you could just bypass it. Since the CKF sensor just sends error messages, it will not affect how the motor run at all. Also, I believe the scanner doesn't read that sensor either.

I did a swap b18c in to my em1.. Only different from u is i went from obd2 to obd1... Well if i were u.. Since the motor is not in the car.. U should have that all missing piece install.. Its much easier for inspection and smog stuff wherever u at. To get the cfk install.. Get an usdm itr oil pump and cfk.. I bought them after i install the motor into my car.. Its laying around in the garage rite now.. Those shoukd cost no more then 150... Now for the vtec.. Ull need a vtec switch thingy.. Basically usdm model kind.. I think u kno wat im talking about.. Pm me for my number.. We can text more about it.
