Car won't go into gear all of a sudden - only with engine on.
1994 Honda Del-sol, B16 engine and trans.
Just fixed a leak in my trans case (long story, leak has nothing to do with my problems now.
Filled it up, fresh syncro-mesh, go for a drive with a friend back to Canada after a long ****ing night. Drive about 1-2 miles everything is fine, shifts like butter, go to get on the highway..do a heavy high rpm pull from 2-4, go to put it in 5th and it won't go. Car told me to **** off.
Coasted to a stop and called AAA, now here I am. Car goes into gear etc. with the engine off, but absolutely not with the engine on. Its like a wall, when I try VERY hard to force it in..the rpms start to just barely rise..if I keep going Im pretty sure I would start grinding gears.
I have solid hasport mounts, except for the front trans mount, which is completely shot..thought this might have been it, but then I wouldn't be able to shift into gear at all right?
I pulled the slave cylinder boot off and had my friend push in the clutch..it moves quite a bit..never looked at it before but I assume its working properly.
Also there is still a bit of fluid in the overflow..not sure where it was before so can't say if its at a normal level.
I'll start reading but right now I'm just waiting for the parts store to open, its late/early and I need to get home..help.

Blead the clutch slave, feels fine but as soon as you start the car it gets real loose..like there air in the line.
Seeing as this is a closed system..i.e no vacuum or booster I assume that something with my clutch is ****ed?
Any Ideas? Its an Exedy 6-puck.

Its could be a few things. The three times this happened to me, each time was something different.
First time, I just put fresh royal purple syncro max in and it wouldn't shift with car running. Drained and refilled with OEM Honda MTF, problem solved.
Second time, clutch slave cylinder went out, was still moving, but the inner seal was letting fluid past it and it wasnt pushing hard enough to disengage clutch.
Third time, Clutch pressure plate went out, wouldn't shift with car running. Replaced pressure plate(actually did whole clutch kit) problem solved.

If there was a leak in eitherof the unit, the reservoir level would go down..correct?
Also..the fork is moving at least 1/2" with some good force (car off)..I dont think its got anything to do with bad cylinders.
From everything I've read..it looks like either a spring came out or the pressure plate is malfunctioning.
Actually ..now that I think about it.. if the trans were to be slightly (.1-.5 qt.) overfilled..would it cause this problem?

Not all the time, if the inner seals were bad, they wouldn't hold pressure and there would be no fluid reservoir change

Very well could be, but hydraulics are the easiest to replace, I would start there and then diagnose my way towards the clutch

That would not cause this problem

Haven't had time to mess around with it yet, but if it had anything to do with the cylinders, why would the pedal resistance change w/ the car turned on?
I'll replace them just for the hell of it seeing as both cost a total of $20, but I'm curious.

Alright. Long overdue update.
Replaced the slave and master cylinders, the old ones were f.u.b.a.r, but alas, nothing changed.
Bought a stage 4 CC kit, pulled the trans today so I could rip off the flywheel to get it turned tomorrow..low and behold.....nothing.
I need to go and get a 12 point socket tomorrow morning to actually take the clutch off, but with it still intact the thing looks fine.
I took the fork & throwout bearing off, and noticed a 1/2" x r1/8" metal dowel pin sitting behind the bearing. Along with it was a small 1/4"x1/4" broken off piece of casting.
I noticed another same size piece sitting inside a random part of the trans..
I can tell you that its not off the trans, but other than that I have no idea.
What should I be looking for here?
