Default installing manual transmission

ok in the past i have removed and reinstalled n automatic transmission onto a 96 accord.

i am having trouble on my cb7 however. i just cant seem to be able to get the manual transmission back on the engine. already removed the engine and transmission to install jdm engine. jdm engine is installed and i have the manual transmission up in the hole but i cant seem to be able to get it to sit flush against the engine. i have three bolts in the top but the bottom side just dont wanna move...

any tips or ides on what i could be doing wrong would be greatly appreciated i have to get this done by friday

also i did use the clutch alignment tool and insert it full through the clutch to the engine before tightening all the pressure plate bolts down

Is your throwout bearing and clutch fork properly installed?
Are the transmission dowel pins in good condition?

Try removing the transmission and all the bolts. There are precision dowel pins there, if the don't go in straight they don't go in. I bet they are either damaged or misaligned.

wait wait wait he said a auto to manual tranny. if u are swapping the auto for a manual u are not gonna be able to just swap w/o different mounts. l did a auto- 5speed swap over a yr ago and l had to have custom mounts because the tranny and driver side motor mounts are different. u have to cut the ear out of the engine bay and reweld in a manual ear for the motor mount to sit into.

Assume he knows what he's doing. The bellhousings are the same and that's what he's talking about.

correct housing is same but well actually a auto housing and manual housing are different. a auto is bigger and bulkier. manual is alot smaller and lighter but they have different mounting. a manual tranny motor mount wont align with a auto ear in the engine bay

I know, but the bellhousings are the same. Otherwise a manual tranny wouldn't fit on an automatic block etc. Physically the automatic transmission is larger. But he's not swapping anything.

ok in that case if ur having that much issue getting trans in. i know its alot of work kinda but l did my swap with trans mounted only took 30 mins to manuever into place and aligned right up. only other advice is take everything out of ur way if u havent already. ive seen it done many ways just sit down when u got time and get a extra knowledgable hand and u will eventually get it bro

The only real problem you'd have is if the dowels pins are either not there or are scratched up really bad. There are two. What I had to do is oil them really good to get the tranny to slide onto them. This was after I scratched up the first batch so bad that the tranny wouldn't slide on the first time.

Also, for those that are removing the entire engine the clutch alignment tool isn't really necessary since you can actually see it line up with them off the car. If you just put on the tranny an alignment tool is helpful because you can't exactly get your head in there to see if it all lined up correctly enough to get the transmission on flush.

make sure there are 2 dowel pins in the same location. did that before. one stuck in the block, when i put the new tranny on the tranny already had one in that spot.

i guess its safe to assume that you did install a flywheel and clutch set up on the block.

Take the dowels and swap them to the tranny if they're in the block or vice versa and be sure to oil them. Make sure they're in the correct spots.
