Default horrible problem, removed tint, second layer of ink?

Ok I have a huge problem, I took off the tint off the rear hatch window of my dc4, but the top of the layer has a weird second coat of sticky ink with doesn't flake easy (and if i do flake it, its about the size of the tip of a needle.) nor does it come off with cleaner, such as Windex, soap, wheel cleaner (i got desperate) i even used paint stripper!!!! NOTHING WILL TAKE IT OFFFF.

I pulled the tint, i got the whole sheet of film off, but the top of the window has this purple stuff on it, about 9" of it. It looks like an eyebrow but in the rear..

Has anyone ever had this? can i sctratch my window if i use a blade? what to do!

I just got done removing mine. i dont really mention it in my thread, i should have done a little DIY. O well.

just go to harbor freight buy the 12$ heat gun they got, start using it in the corner OF THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GLASS. DO NOT DO IT ON THE SIDE WITH THE FILM. Its still takes a little time but each piece is pretty big. i would say about 3-4 hours. The slower you go the faster you will get done, peel slow.

But i also dont know the extent of the damage you have done to it so far so it may vary.

thanks for the reply man, but the problem is..is that I took off the plastic tint film..it peels off in 3 pieces. it left a purple residue that doesn't come off. at first i though it was just glue with purple ink, but it wont come off in pieces..i think i might just get a new glass for it off of CL..

Mmmmm intresting mine came off in 2 pieces (the film then the sticky purple stuff)...im sure the heat gun can help mop up the goo.

I just hate removing windows ha, but yea if i got a good deal on a clean one and a free day i would probably do it. im still picking little left over pieces off my glass, what a pain.

Purple film residue is from the use of cheap tint. Use shampoo and water out and spray generously and scrape off. Watch out for the defroster if you scrape them off they won't work!

BTW Lumar is one of the best company to make tint film

ill try goo gone for sure, I'm scraping the whole rear window, I have most of it gone, I just need to get the edges. ill need it when I do all the other windows along with a steamer.

yeah removing a window sounds like a PITA, ill stick to the pros haha. what I meant about I removed it in 3 pieces is that, it came off in 3 huge pieces but left purple crao everywhere, if i would have used a heat gun, i could have avoided this whole mess

lumar? i doubt the shops by me carry that, all the shops by me are pretty ghetto, ill have to go to a fancy place to get good quality stuff.

the purple residue is over the defroster so I'm not even going to scrape near there.

what u need to do is spray your window with windex. next put a black platic bag over it. then you let your car sit for a whole day while the sun is doing its job. a day later your whole tint will come off.

If you're having this much trouble just use a steamer..that WILL work.

Hi,
I have honda 2002 accord and tried to remove the rear window tint. First layer came off very quick when i had soaked the window with soap solution and garbage bag. But, the second layer is being a pain.

I bought below item from menards as per the forum's suggestion. This doesnt help either... any suggestions?

YES--the steamer was effective on my 16 year old baked on tint. Target has a handheld fabric steamer for $29.99. The side and canopy windows peeled with heat gun approach but no doing on the rear. Steam up the whole car, rear window area and the second layer will eventually loosen
