Default Last cry for help before taking it to a mechanic

93 civic with bone stock d15b7, the issue is that to start the car I have to hold the pedal to the floor to get the motor to run then once it's running, if it drops below 1k rpm's it dies unless you give it gas.

I've replaced the fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, and fuel pressure reg. I replaced the reg because upon getting it to idle on it's own once I went to check vacuum lines and when I pulled the one from the IM to the fuel pressure regulator the idle started going up, I hooked it back up and the car stalled. But now i've replaced the regulator and no help. Please somebody help me figure this out. I've cleaned the iacv as well and i'm not getting any cel

CEL codes? Have you clean and adjusted the FITV?

No cel codes and to be honest i've never messed with the fitv. and I don't believe it's the fuel pump because I can hear it priming when I first turn the key.

You guys know any way to test the leaky injector theory without replacing the injectors?

Thanks a ton for all the replies.

do you know if the iacv is working? try creating a vacuum leak by take of the hose at the booster and see if it starts better. the engine may not be getting air past the throttle plate when its closed. since your saying you have to put your foot on the gas pedal all thats doing is feeding air into the engine.

no real easy way, i would rule out as many things as possible before looking towards injectors, unless you have a friend that has known good injectors. problem being is they could leak in one of or both areas (likely only situation #2)

1. the injectors may or may not leak without current (without being activated, fuel system pressureized but not running or being started) highly unlikely and the only type of leak you could acurately check

2. they could leak (spray) more than they are supposed to when being actived (applied current, engine running or being started) something that would be extremly hard to check for unless they were just dripping fuel like mad

Read the sig in RONs post and start there.

rotor and cap prob needs replacing since i didnt see that on your list
could be low fuel pressure, so pump?

Also, theres a high idle set screw on top of the throttle body air inlet, adjust this when the car is at operating temp. and see if that works AFTER you clean the FITV

I've never had much luck messing with the idle screw. Is your timing (both mechanical and ignition) good? You'll need a timing gun to check ignition timing, to check mechanical timing refer to the many timing belt DIY's on the internet.

Also check for unplugged sensors on the intake manifold, when I rebuild my d15 I forgot to plug up a sensor and it couldn't idle at all and ignition timing jumped everywhere.
