Default New isb, now won't shift

Just to start off i need to get this fixed A.S.A.P.

I just put a new input shaft bearing in my 90 dx tranny and while i was reassembling it i noticed that it would not shift. I have another tranny to reference from but can't use because it is a hydro and i have cable.

Now i seriously need a very detailed write-up on how to get it right or someone explain what i'm doing wrong because the car is my daily driver and i've already been down for 3 days.

Please be clear about when in the reassembly process you noticed it would not shift - before you resealed the case? After you resealed the case but before you put it in the car? It was fine before but now you put it in the car and it won't? Everything is installed but with the engine running, it won't go into gear?

If you're not clear about that, then no one is going to be able to help you much, because we don't know where the expletive to start. LOL So please, help us so we can help you.

i put the gears in and it seemed to only allow me to get 2 gears (which ones i don't know) but i thought maybe it's because i didn't have the case on for the support so i put the case on and now i get nothing

It's tough to shift with everything together and the case off due to the shift change assembly's construction. If you remove the shift change assembly, and still can't engage gears manually, you have some internal issues. If everything shifts fine without the change assembly, you install everything, put the case on and it doesn't shift, then you did something incorrect during install.

interlock guide bolt was installed before countershaft was locked it, damaging the shift assembly.

LOL. I'm guilty of that one once. Sadly, I hadn't done that until my latest D-series fix. None of the first ones... the very last one.

That might be Bense's picture, but I've done the same as well.

My great D-series knowledge means I've messed them up a few times. SO when I say don't do that it means I've already mucked one up.

As you do more trannys they get easier and you start to rush, then you do something stupid like this.

I am human, LOL!

or twice

The last one wasn't my fault. The tranny was brought to me for a re-gear. I had it all buttoned up and CS locked into place, about to install the IGB when I was informed the previous person to work on the tranny mucked it up.

I hate cleaning up grey RTV that hasn't set up yet. I was tipped $40 for the extra time and parts.....

Worse though is the detent ***** on B's and D's. Forget a sealing washer and mushroom the tip over the ball, well crap!
