new to forum. 1994 Del Sol, d15b7 engine. 1st honda... need help in North Georgia.
Hello everyone and thanks in advance for helping me.
i bought my 1st honda last week from a friend. 1994 del sol. interior is 8.5/10 exterior is a 3/10. enjoying great gas mileage.... which is why i bought it.
Runs great! Shifts great! Smokes (white-ish blue, definitely not all white or black.... not at idle, only around 2.8K rpm) and burns oil like it's going out of style.
about 1 qt every 100 miles.
obviously looking to rebuild. would like some comments/suggestions before i start tearing into this motor.
i know there isn't a way to replace rings on the pistons with a "liquid miracle" in a can.... but would like to start eliminating the cheapest fixes first.
anyone in north georgia, lake lanier area?
i have only added engine cleaner to the oil, the idled for 5 mins and changed oil.... and added a cheaper stp oil treatment.
thanks again for your time.

Easiest way, find a motor out of the same car, tear it down, rebuild it, pull the old one and put the new one in, reduces the downtime significantly.
Otherwise, take the head off, to check the cyl bores for scoring, if damaged badly by the worn out rings its a bore to .050 or a hone to clean up the bores, then oversized pistons from rockauto or something with new rings.
Then if put together properly its all clear sailing from there.
DID ALL THIS and was not without a car for more than the time it took me to swap it.
If you are not good at anything mechanical then its as simple as taking it to someone who is.
