Default Just Another EJ6 Hatch De-Rice Story

Well then lets start this thing! the story begins with me getting her from a dealership 2 blocks down from where i live. shes a 97 and the price would be at a steep $3600 but i still got her cus i wanted to build credit and also have a dependable DD. i dont have a clue of where it came from but i had a peek at the title and it was from nevada, probably vegas because it had super dark tint on the windows. the body is straight but has poor body panel alignment. that and a little love bump on the driver's tailight. as far as rust goes, it only had small scratches by the passenger headlight. has 219K miles but pulled way hard for an engine with that many miles, well hard for a y7 with that much milage, i suspect an engine replacement. it looked hideous but i saw the beauty within and couldnt resist.

the plans are to make it a good looking DD with a Y8 swap in the distant future. nothing too crazy.

and now for the pics that with the course of time, will be many.

well the base price was $2400 but interests, this and that bam $3600. gotta build credit one way or another.
plus out here theres not many civics this age for sale just newer ones. out here its mostly lifted diesels and when a civic like this comes around, specially now, its like **** and flies.

so as promised im posting my first update which is of the stock radio it came with. a little history here. i was 18 and didnt know how to drive stick so i kept stalling EVERYWHERE! the bad news is that the radio wouldnt hold its memory and kept going back to 88.5 FM with the volome of 2 everytime the car shut off. so i got annoyed pretty quick, so i went to figure out why. what i found was mind blowing and well i had to fix it.

pulling the radio

cut everything even so i could have a clean start, to bad i cut the RCA's so no amp

everything i cut off

and yet thats what was left

after cleaning it up a bit

took some notes so that it could be properly connected(left out the power connections)

connected everthing up and boomski, it finally worked right

all the junk that was used to connect 4 shitty speakers in the rear on one channel

i was left so speechless that i couldnt even flame the person who thought that was a good idea

I just picked up my first Honda (92 civic dx) with the same kind of issues. The wiring in mine was/is a MESS from front to back so...I feel your pain! good luck with all the work

well i dont want to sound like an *** but u must not have read why i did. i was 18, first time buyer, which means super high interest, but i went ahead with it cus i want to be able to get a better car in the future. plus it gives me something to work on.

u got good luck cus that was a steal. more now with the rising gas prices so congrats for the find. i live where lifted diesels rule and a chance like this is not often.

here we go again. so i was getting ticked off at looking up to the dome light and seeing this little *** square there that had some sort of gum smeared on it, so it was off the junkyard again. i didnt find any good ones so i got crazy idea to put an DA teg dome light in there and this is how it went.

nastiness

the guud stoof

got the plug as well. civic left, teg right

did some surgery on it

wasnt liking the fit so i cut a little off the side

and the sweetness

also took out the bolt on the door sensor cus the beeping was driving me nuts!!

i guess in the process of all this something tore a bit into the headliner, but its ok since its nasty and needs replacing

it was time for me to have 21st century technology in my music so i busted iut some cash and went to my nearest yellow tagged retailer and bought a new deck and heres how that went

quick rewind from before

now with blue dohickies

directly connected, no stock to aftermarket harness

shazam! krispy like the song!

much much better now. also hooked up some speakers i found at the junkyard ($2 a piece) and it sounds pretty decent when i dont have "loud" mode on.

i decided that rolling around in almost bald 13's in front and studded 13's in back was not cool or safe and got tired enough of the sound the studs were making on the road so i busted out even more cash and went and got some Slips knockoffs in 15x7.5 +35, brand new 195/50r15 tires, aligned it too and wow! the ride quality improved so much. no more annoying tires sounds. but in the process of all this, it exposed more rice on the rear drum, sigh but discovered something real good

guud stoof

out in a field somewhere

random

the discovery

as you can see the car has tein springs all around, that would explain why it looked lowered

well looks like im getting my internet disconnected cus its too pricey. so what that means is that this thread will slow down a lot and im gonna be spending a lot more time at the public library. oh well the show goes on!!

so the next update will be the headlights. i know stock ones come chrome but i hate them with a burning passion. so i went on EGAY and got black housing ones. flame me, hate me, sue me, kill me, i dont care. i like the style and they fit great.

the stockness

the new freshness

on the car

they look great but panel alignment is off
that was the best shot i could find in my pics so that i wouldnt give away my next update

Could have made your stock headlights look exactly like that for like $10.

eh what the hell might as well post it if its done already.
went to a junkyard that is associated with a new parts seller and got a new front bumper for 60 bucks. then went to my nearest auto parts store and got a couple cans of the closest color to mine(because they don't sell Dark Amethyst Pearl and went to town on the bumpers and side skirts.

i dont care that the parts arent the same color, i just want the red off while not rolling around with primer.

reasons 1 and 2 why i got a new bumper, someone was hungry haha

reason why i painted them, i had a red ***, baboon style

my ghettoness

Doneski

i feel a lot better now with less red, of course more needs to go
