ok so i have a 93 del sol s model. the guy before me had cut the springs and screwed everything all up. so i take it to get the front in checked out and they tell me its going to be $500 for inner and outter tie rods. after i get this fixed im wanting to lower it but will it mess up the tie rods again by lowering it? the guy at the shop said it will mess it up and i would have to spend $1000 to get it right. im just going to buy lowering springs because the stock struts i have only have 5000 miles on them.

 

Let me guess, you took it to a corporate owned company?

guy is lying. If you really need inner and out tie rods, they are easy to do yourself. If you cant, find another shop and get a second opinion on just replacing them. When you change the height of the car the alignment changes so you will need to get it re aligned if you change the height. But it will not damage anything by doing so.

Same thing here, I recently got a 93 Civic Hatch and the guy that had it before me cut and heated the springs. Total jacked everything up and I had to replace the tie rods and shocks. But it is easy to do yourself so that is something to consider.

 

lowering your car wont mess anything up if you do it right, i've owned (and lowered) 4 different civics and never "messed" anything up the only issue i've had (as stated above) has been alignment and camber issues

 

so if i just get these tein lowering springs then will it mess anything up? my struts are in perfect conditon.

yeah you should be okay because its a nice drop n not too low, on my 95 ex i went with tanabe DF 210 springs and also swapped out the shocks for tokico blues (cause the stock ones had moore than 100k on them) great setup!!

 

$500 to replace tie rods? i don't know what size it is, but i used two cresent wrenches and replaced them myself, and then got an alignment. Paid $60 per tie-rod, and $80 for an alignment, and about 20 minutes to do the work

Skip the spring deal and get coilovers. Gotta love being able to adjust how low you can go :D IMO.
