Tuner advice high boost timing Question
Yes I know every motors different, but on AVERAGE on 24psi at 18 degrees timing to much for 93 pump gas?

I tune myself and haven't had a chance to hit the dyno. So far im spanking 500who camaros 400hp sti 450hp civics so I think my tuning is going pretty good. Also my afr is at 11.7

18 degrees is a bit excessive if you ask me i usually use 18 degress when im tuning around 12-13 psi but i tune ignition on the conservative side with pump gas

you might be about to get away with 18 degrees on methanol.
but i think on 93 pump you should be starting off a lot lower. maybe even around 6 degrees and start advancing from there, listening for knock, and doing timed runs through the RPM band.

I have heard 1 degree of retard per psi of boost * But take everything you hear with a grain of salt... I don't own a boosted car.
So my h22 runs 31 degrees at full throttle, so if I was running 24 psi I would run 7 degrees of timing according to that, but then someone above said they run 6 degrees of timing with only 12-13 psi.... which would make that rule of thumb pretty bad..
Start at a low ignition value like 0 degrees at 24 pounds of boost while a/f is whatever you want it at though the whole rpm range, then start increasing ignition timing until hp plateau's then back it off a bit or run conservative amount of timing and pull a couple degrees to sacrifice hp output.
This is what I would do If I had a boosted engine..I've just been learning tuning on my own for about 3 years fiddling around with my stock H22A.. using Neptune.

If you are beating the crap out of your car at 24psi and it hasnt grenaded yet...you must have the best pump gas in the country at the gas station you use
Get your car on a dyno

Get your car on a dyno
take it on the dyno and start tuning ur timing for low boost 1st. set the timing conservative 1st (.75-1* per psi) and start adding timing 2* at a time. Once you stop making power at with more timing, you reached the limit. Back down the timing another 1-2* from where you made the most power to keep it safe. Once u get ur timing right at low boost start increasing boost in increments and add timing. do the same for all your boost levels.
Thats alot of timing regardless of fuel type . I would say low teens to start off and then add .5 decree until you stop making big power gains . This needs to be done on a dyno .
