It used to be that the B20 was cheap. You had the B20B (lower compression) and the B20Z (higher compression). The B18a/b was either in between the two in price, or it was 3rd cheapest. Then the B16A. Next, B18C1. B18C5. And most expensive, B16B

The order has changed recently it seems. The B20 has gotten more popular and the prices have gone up. The B20, B18 "LS", B16 and B18C1 are your main choices. Depending on your budget and availability of each, will determine which is the best choice in your situation.

The least expensive B would be a stock B18a paired with either a hydro or cable LS trans, depending on the chassis in which the drivetrain will be installed.

I ended up getting a good deal on a b18 swap out of a riced out integra. the kid wanted 400 bucks for the whole car. I brought it home, tore it out, and scrapped the car. There are typically a decent amount of deals like that on craigslist. granted ill be way over $400 dolars when this swap is complete...

Did you take the rear disk setup off the teg before you scrapped it, would be a shame if you didn't.

Unfortunately i didnt! i had no way of getting rid of the shell without all the suspension components, and i didnt have enough time to do the brake swap before i had to scrap it.

definitely look on your local craigslist, you can usually find a swaps used for cheaper than ebay or places that sell JDM engines (a lot of people are ditching their swaps to go k-series) also look at integras like disaster said

Don't buy an engine off of Craigslist. How do you know what condition it's in?

You sure about that?

What makes them different? keep in mind ALL USDM B series/D series are 32mm. Only difference is the JDM ITR with 36mm.

The axles are different and will need to be swapped to B series, but the knuckles are just fine.
