How many gsr owners here had a timing belt break?
At what mileage did it happen? How bad was the damage? I have 66K miles on mine right now and don't know if I should wait till 90K to do mine. I drive mostly highway and some city. Thanks.
If you're worried, then do it. If you drive your car easy, then you'll be alright till 90k.
If it breaks, your SOL, the chance that MAJOR engine damage ocours is high.

just replace it at 75,000. i know a few people who have their stock belts on and they have 100,000+ miles on their car. i wouldnt take it that far.. but hey... its all good.
I have a 95 GSR and I just changed the timing belt at 100k miles and when I took the old one out you couldn't tell it apart from the new one.
The only thing about changing at 60k is that when the car hits 120k you're gunna want to change it again and when I hit 120k mine will pretty much new.
It's not the hardest thing to do, but it's not fun either. You spend more time taking things apart just to get to it then it takes to actually change it.

I had my timing belt changed a little after 90k. When I saw the belt, the wires were splitting apart, a couple more miles and it would have completely snapped.
If you do your own valve adjustments, that is a good time to check the condition. Look for shredding and missing teeth. If you see anything wrong, replace it asap.
the other day i took off my valve cover and check out my timing belt. it looked good but is that enough. i mean all i saw was the top by the cam gears is that enough to make sure that its all good? i bought my car from the dealer with 107k so i would think that the dealer would have changed it.
If you bought the car used with 107k, you should change it. You never know if the previous owner did that. Never trust a car dealer.
i dont have a gsr but i change my timing belt every 30,000 miles and once i get cams and gears im getting the toda blue belt for extra protection!
wow....every 30,000 miles.....it must get expensive unless you do it yourself....that is being really safe....I will probably change mine at 75,000 since I do a mix of city and highway....thanks for the replies
How much do they charge at most dealers?I have a friend whos a mechanic who suppose to do it for about 4 months but keeps waisting time,I'm not gonna keep waiting and just take it to the dealer because I don't really know and trust any good mechanics, and if I wait for this slow moving turd its gonna be too late when I'm replacing all my valves.
Mine snapped at 109,000 miles while driving so I had 2 exhaust valves bend. When we took the old one out it almost snapped in another part of the belt too. Just lucking I wasn't going fast and in high rpms. But with this happening it gave me a reason to send my head out to PYR.
I done mine at 50k then again at 72k when i was getting my rebuild, on both occassions the belts looked like new, with no wear or miising teeth. I cant figure out why UK/Euro/JDM hondas recommend changing the belt at 60k, and USDM cars at 90K, after all, arent all B18C engines made in japan???

anyone in socal want to make some money and change mine out for me? i would do it myself, but i'm worried that i might do something wrong..
I have 140,000 miles on my LS... and my timing belt has never been changed. My dad feels certain that it is a timing chain, and the dealership told him it never needed changing? The car is a 1995 Acura Integra LS 4-door.
Please let me know if I have a chain or if I should do this right away.
Thanks,
Ben
