Can owners of jdm d15b vtec motors please help me to correctly set tdc on cam pulley, IM super confused and Im getting different info from h-t and d-series.org.

Ok, sorry I didn't help you more so on DSO, I forgot they are like that. To clear a few things up for you...The Z1 and Z6 share alot of things the cam gear is one of those things that is the same (not everybody knows those details). One thing that is not the same is the timing belt. I can't remember what belt you said that you used.

Ok now...the "D15b obd1 vtec" (the one with the normal looking vtec solenoid) is just basically the Z6. Set timing like the Z6 if you used everything that came on that engine and if your using the Z6 timing belt.

Don't forget there is also a Z1 version stamped "D15b", which is prolly why your finding mixed info, but you'll find plenty of that with this damn engine code. The tiny ports or if it has roller rockers would give it away if it was like the Z1.

I do not own your engine or any of the "D15b's" for that matter, I've only done years of reading on it so feel free to keep digging till your eyes bleed. It really is a PITA trying to find "good" info on it.

May the force be with you.

Why not pull the plug for #1 cylinder and use a screwdriver down the hole to find TDC and see which marks line up on the cam pulley.

first of anything and comon sence if your cam is pointing up n the two lines on the cam are matching the edge of the head its at tdc bro that for every honda dohc or sohc the lines match the head of the edge n the pointer is up your at tdc also easy way to check pop the valve cover off witch its should be of to get the cam cover off n look at the rocker arm in the first cyln n no plz dont take of the plug n stick a screw driver or extension in the piston thats how you get metal shavings or crap inthere only back yard mechanics do that follow your lines on the cam n on the crank bro any other info hit me up

your info is good bro just that there is a z1 that the vx model most of the parts you would need for the d15b vtec go like this

timing belt d15z1 aka vx model
waterpump d15z1 aka vx model
tesioner d15z1 aka vx model
oil pump d16z6
cam gear d16z6
vtec solenoid d16z6
dizzy d16z6
all of the internals(except camshaft) in the head get from d16z6
bottom end internals are unique to the d15b other than the crank seals n oil pump n strainner come from a d16z6
camshaft unique to the d15b vtec

thats all the info you would ever need to either rebuild or do maintenace on the jdm d15b vtec

vtec solenoid d16z6 (I don't know why these are different part numbers, honestly)

dizzy d16z6= same as D15Z1

Head Gaskets are also showing the same part number for both the Z1 and Z6.

^^^I just added to your info. I got this from: http://www.hondapartsnow.com/

But please feel free to correct me, I'm just learning here like everyone else
