Jdm d15b vtec obd1 timing set
Can someone point me in the right direction, I changed the waterpump/tensioner/belt on my jdm d15b vtec and Im not sure if I have the motor mechanically timed.
I set the crank gear pulley to the pointer on the oil pump which puts piston 1 at tdc, However Im not sure how to set the cam pulley?? do I set the horizontal tdc marks to the two triangles marked P08 on the timing belt back cover OR do I set the one tdc mark to the pointer at the bottom of the timing belt back cover???
Ive been searching and couldnt pinpoint how to because some think it should be set like a d15z1 and some think its d16z6??? Right about now I would love to look at a jdm or european FSM specific for d15b vtec!?!!
motor is jdm d15b vtec obd1.
heres a pic, i colored the cam pulleys 3 tdc marks in white. and the triangles on the corners of the timing belt back cover-->

Re: Jdm d15b vtec obd1 timing set
looks right to me.
make sure the "bottom" line lines up with the pointer/arrow on the timing cover. the other 2 "side" lines will line up with the block deck.
assuming you are using the JDM timing cover, and not a US one for a non-vtec engine - the US one puts it about a tooth and a half off from my experience...

You use the lower mark on the cam gear and the pointer on the inner plastic timing cover. The 2 marks that line up with the head are for the D15B7/D15B8. Honda used the same cam gear for several engines that's why the have extra marks.
