Default marine in need of lots of help

i have a 1994 integra ls. i bought it from my sgt. he said it has a 2000 bottom end and a 1997 top end. skunk 2 pro series cams, stage 2 clutch, t3/t4 turbo running 7psi. when i first got the car it ran fine. had no problems. i went and put some oil in it and thats where it went wrong. was driving and it made a poppin sound and then started smoking. i got it home, replaced the head gasket and thought it would fix the problem. turns out all the smoke is coming out of the dip stick and valve cover. could it be a blown ring even though there werent any scratches or marks on the piston walls?

if the rings were bad you would be burning oil and have blue'ish smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Time for a leakdown test...

If you have say air comming out your dipstick then you are very much in need of a rebuild (under 10% is normal) at least rings depending on condition

If you take the short block out/back in yourself you can do it for under 700$

Pull out a phone book and call local machine shops, an oem short block rebuild is around that ballpark

people boost stock/rebuilt b18s all the time. if its a stock rebuild with cast pistons a local machinest could probably get away with it, if you would like to use forged pistions i would get it rebuilt by a honda/acura specialist due to ring gaps that come into play with the expansion of the pistons under force induction...but keep in mind forged pistons cost about 90% of you budget

Lol slow down, remember the leakdown test??! If you don't want/can't perform the leakdown test take it somewhere, It would really suck to pull the shortblock for rings then come to find out it was the valves not seating properly.

As far as sleeving goes I wouldn't waste the money on it to only stay at 7psi (although I don't know the specs of your setup and I know 7psi here isn't 7psi there). Look up graphs for stock LS turbos, they pull great reliable #s

Or maybe boost a 500$ b20 from a reputable import shop sense you would have every part from your teg already to do the swap, blah blah weak sleeves it's been done countless times (at least around where I stay) Just invest in a tune, even a decent street tune if your just looking for a fun little daily. Blow the b20? Get a new one ha

i agree wit Builda'Teg_92, first things first should b that leakdown test. thatll get u steered in the rings r a definite possibility. cracked cylinder or head as well. so after disassembly jus inspect everythin u can. if ur on a $700 budget nd it ends up bein ur rings, id say pick up some good forged pistons. stock rods can handle 7psi all day. hav ur head vacuum tested to check for leaks nd make sure its straight. surface as needed. if it ends up bein a valve issue ( dnt kno y it would if its a crankcase smoke issue but jus in case ) u can get a valve job for $160ish plus cost of extra parts ( valves, guides etc... ). u can shop round a bit nd find somethin ud like as far as pistons. im personally runnin some wisecos in my b18b turbo along wit h beam rods. but u can still b safe jus runnin pistons. jus a few options but get that leakdown test done b4 u do ANYTHING!! good luck wit the build man. well. three of the four pistons were totally cracked. got new rod and pistons and rings. put them in and let it sit there and run for 30 mins. during that time though it stated smoking just like it did before. this car has just been a huge headache.

I would check your PCV valve you might be fouled... You could also take the black box off the back of the block and clean it out... Hey its a alittle of your time before you dive into to much...
