is it better to run a stock p5p or a p5m for a h23a swap, or is there another stock ecu that i should use want to buy the motor and ecu at one time so i need help asap. TIA
I guess we could use a little more info, like what car is this going in, what did the engine come out of, OBD1 or 2 for each? Also, what wiring harness are you using? Maybe some of that info can get us going toward a solution.

your not gonna get either to work unless you pay to get the immo removed from the ecu, contact katman for that. but then again, need more info, what car? year? you may be able to re-flash the key-ring but i dunno what car you have.
otherwise you should use a obd1 ecu. a chipped ecu with a h23 vtec tune.
I have a few chipped ecus and i drive an h23vtec. lmk if i can sell you an ecu with a street tuned h23v basemap.

Intake air bypass valves in the intake manifold. They open at higher RPMs to let more air into the motor.
I gutted mine, they're just flappers screwed to a rail that turns to open them.

lol they are more than just flappers, IABs are a Awesome design. and work great.
using them or not all depends on how you build your motor.
obd2 p13's are hard to find, i have two of them. when i see one for a good price i buy it lol. i have seen people selling them for as much as 300$, crazy rare! along with the Type S intake manifolds.

What =\, I just wanted to know if I get a complete (2000) h23a with everything on it can I put it in my 96 obd2 that's what I now know to be prewired for vtec, and will it run good I don't wanna go over borad and upgrade the **** outta it I just want to get a good motor that runs,
Dude, obd1 conversion ftw. Use the tools available (Neptune, eCtune, Hondata, Crome) and tune it right. Wide band and go! Its such a freeing feeling to be able to control how your car runs with your own laptop.

Kamp I hear what ur saying but I'm not set up for that **** I'm an alignment specialist I'm not to keen on motor and ecu but I blew my h23a1 and i wanted to get a little upgrade for my money and figured if I dropped the H23a in my **** not only would my car run id get myself a little upgrade in the process?
Use the ECU that comes with the engine and get this jumper harness to plug into your car:

The JDM ECU doesn't have immobilizer so it should work, but if your state does OBDII Emissions testing then you'll have a problem because JDM ECUs don't send a power signal to the USDM 16-pin DLC connector nor do they have readiness monitors so you'll probably have to use your stock ECU to pass emissions, but outside of emissions you'll be good.
Edit: You're still going to have to wire up VTEC, knock sensor, IAB, and possibly rewire EGR but this option may prove more convenient than tracking down an OBD2 P13.

Thank you slomofo that's what I was hoping to hear and no I don't have to worry about any emissions or ne thing like that. Should I use the wire harness from the original h23a1 or the one that comes with the H23a ??
