Default Need help finding header and cat converter...

...for my crx. Hey guys whats up. I have a 91 crx and I'm looking to get some great sound out of it. Right now it has a cold air intake, body kit, rims, and a stupid fart muffler. I have already picked out the exhaust I want and I just need to know which cat converter and header are compatible with this exhaust for a decent price.

everything made for the crx should bolt up. i would get a cat from autozone/advance and the header of your choice. DC sports is a good one.

Well here is the problem I'm noticing. Where the header would normally attach to the exhaust only has two bolt holes on each part. But on all of the test pipes one end has 2 bolt holes and the other has 3 bolt holes. So how is that suppose to work?

DC Header: BTW is this header decent for what I want?

Skunk 2 test pipe: 2 bolt holes on one end and 3 bolt holes on the other. I don't see how that is going to fit properly.

There's a mid pipe, you can use walker or maremont if you so choose. Don't forget the gaskets.

the 3 hole flange mates to the header, the two hole side mates to the mid pipe/resonator assembly. I could have this reversed in my head as I haven't had my morning coffee yet..

I'm looking at both the header and exhaust ends and they both appear to only have two holes. Am I mistaken. I just looked at them again to make sure.

Wait what is a mid pipe? Can you show me what it look's like and tell me what it is used for? If you mean cat converter than I would rather not go that route. There has to be a way to run that header and exhaust with a certain test pipe between them.

Another thing I just thought of though was I have emissions here in TN. So can I even run a test pipe or do I need a cat converter

You need a cat. Better to re-do the system properly.

Is there a particular cat you recommend to go with my vibrant exhaust and dc header? did you read where I looked at both ends of the exhaust and header and I can only see two bolt holes on each end. Am I missing something? Please let me know.

Greddy trust if you really really need a big muffler. The louder the average civic on the street the slower everyone knows it is. You should consider taking that money you would spend on intake/header/exhuast and put it towards something that will actually improve performance or at least put it towards reliablilty.

Well see I have a fart muffler on it right now and I hate it. The guy who owned it b4 me put it on there. I don't want to ruin the MPG. From what I've researched, if you get better airflow in and out your car it will improve mpg....If you keep your foot out of it. Which I do. I don't want a loud muffler I just like the way the vibrant exhaust sounds. I've heard it before and it's really nice.

or maybe I should go with the Dual Axle Back exhaust: http://compare.ebay.com/like/2707627...=sbar&_lwgsi=y

This is the header I'm looking at: - http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/DC-...HC5002/560919/

I bet it would sound even better with a nice cat and header. The problem I'm noticing is that the end of the pipe on the exhaust and the end of the pipe on the dc header I'm looking at only has two bolt holes. So how in the world am I suppose to put a cat between that? please let me know. Thank you

Well, you can buy virtually any header - off ebay for low $$. You will have to extend the wiring for the 02 sensor as most of them come with bung at the collector.

You can pick up a universal magnaflow cat and cut and weld the flanges off the old OEM cat as long as the flanges are still good.

You can buy the midpipe and resonator from Walker or Maremont. Walker's are 2" OD so it will flow much better than the 1.5" that was stock. Muffler is your choice. I used a universal oval for a chev V6, which flows more than enough for a 1.6L four and is quiet.

The two hole flange on the header end mates up to the input end of the catalytic converter, and the 3 hole flange matches up to the midpipe flange. Makes sense? No?

ok I think I get it. What is difference between cat and midpip? What is resonator? where can I get resonator and mid pipe...unless mid pipe is the same as cat.... lol ya I have a mechanic work on it for me.

ok I found them. http://www.clubintegra.com/store/pro...&manufacturer=

http://www.raceinspired.com/p-763-dc...iliateid=10065

http://compare.ebay.com/like/2707627...=sbar&_lwgsi=y

I changed a few things. I'm going with axle exhaust. Will this setup work if done properly?

I already have a cold air intake so I'm good there.

So now I'm sorry for asking the same question again I just want to make sure. I need to run header into cat and them cat into resonator and then resonator into dual exhaust?

.

Idk about that one

A good flowing exhaust can change throttle response and power all threw the power band, and as for louder the slower...

Here is a diagram:

Go to the Maremont site here: http://maremontexhaust.innovativelog...MMY=3489&NID=0

Look and read carefully.

Now what about the fact that my engine is the 1.5l dx? Will the items that I have chosen still work? I know the head should. It says dx/si. but I'm not sure about the rest of the piping.

Yes it will bolt up 100%. I personally would not spend that much on a header. ZC header and downpipe comes to mind - look on ebay or on Craigslist or this forums buy and sell forum...
