Is Honda MTF fluid is okay to use on worn out tranny
Hello, I know many people are sick of hearing this question, but I want to know just for safety sake that honda MTF is okay to use on my 1991 honda civic dx with 280k miles on it. I got my clutch replaced like two years ago and put atleast almost 50k on it, and the fluid since the service.
So now I was going to replace it with just genuine honda 10w-40 but noticed someone said to use honda MTF..so I wondered should I go against the book and use honda MTF? Also I heard that MTF is thinner. Is that true aswell?

the new stuff is thinner but perfectly suitable.
id rather use that with proper additives than straight up engine oil. oil chemistry has evolved in the past 20 years...

Thank you for the great answer! I never thought about the additives that are in tranny oil. This fluid won't have any negative impacts on the life of the tranny correct?
